While we can’t be sure every single one works – just like snow sticks to a snow shovel, certain snow-making tricks and tips have been sticking around for years and years.
None of these are scientific, but they’re fun time-honored tricks, tips, and legends that just might help make it snow!
#1 – Place A Spoon Under Your Pillow
Placing a spoon under your pillow before you go to sleep is one of the most popular tricks to make it snow. There’s no apparent type of spoon that has to be used. You’ll find that people use all types of spoons for this snow-making trick:
- Plastic spoons
- Metal spoons
- Wood spoons
#2 – Wear Your Pajamas Inside-Out
When you go to bed tonight, make sure you wear your pajamas inside-out.
- Kids: If your parents ask you why you insist on wanting to wear your pajamas inside-out, just tell them it’s for a good reason… Legend has it that it’s a great trick to make it snow.
- Parents: Yes, parents this includes you too! Show your kids that you’re on their side by wearing your pajamas inside-out. It really is one of those old tricks that’s supposed to help make it snow!
#3 – Do The Snow Dance

#4 – Leave Ice Cubes On The Porch
They say that placing some ice cubes on the porch helps to make it snow. There’s no apparent rule on how many ice cubes you’re supposed to leave out on the porch though. Maybe the more ice cubes you put out on the porch the more snow you’ll get? Try it and see!
#5 – Place A White Crayon In Your Freezer
Stick a white crayon in your freezer and then place it under your pillow before going to bed to help make it snow. This makes sense — white, after all, is the color of snow (at least the good snow, right?).
#6 – Run Around Your Table 5 Times
They say that running around a table 5 times will help make it snow. If your table is against a wall, you should drag it out to the center of the room — so you can get around your table a little more easily. Oh, and don’t trip!
#7 – Flush An Ice Cube Down Your Toilet
This tip sounds a little strange at first, but it’s a classic that supposedly has worked in the past for many people. Flush a single ice cube down your toilet and then wait… This is actually one of the most popular tricks you’ll find for making it snow.
8 Fun Things To Do In The Snow With Kids
The tricks to make it snow mentioned above are all great ways to have fun with your kids in anticipation of an overnight snowfall.
It’s exciting to go to sleep wishing for snow and waking up excited to see if it actually did snow.
